Houston Health Foundation

The mission of the Houston Health Foundation is to provide a funding stream to support public health projects beyond the normal scope and capacity of city operations. We work with donors, partner organizations and volunteers to help bring valuable health services to the children and families of Houston's most under-served communities.

  • Implement the Houston Basics education campaign and reach over 25,000 individuals

How you can help?

  • Donate/grant $175,000 to fund the media campaign

  • Donate/grant $135,000 to recruit and pay stipends for 9 parent liaisons and enroll 290 active parents in 3 target neighborhoods

Reading at Grade Level by Third Grade

What will MBK Houston do in the 2016-2017 school year?

  • Establish complete libraries at 29 MBK schools serving over 18,000 youth

  • Recruit and place 200 volunteers for in-school literacy programs

How you can help?

  • Donate/grant $290,000 to update school library collections and provide technical assistance & training by the Houston Public Library

  • Recruit volunteers from your organization to support schools

  • Donate to the Kids Vision program; $85 will provide a free exam and glasses for one student in need

  • Volunteer at the MBK College Success Fairs

  • Volunteer with an on-campus male success program

Graduate High School Ready for College or Career

What will MBK Houston do in the 2016-2017 school year?

  • Implement the Early Warning System and inter-agency Systems of Care model in 3 MBK Schools, affecting approximately 1,900 students

  • Conduct needs assessments on 400 boys in grades K, 3, 6, and 9

  • Provide case management to approximately 500 youth

  • Match 35 Big Brothers/Big Sister mentors with MBK elementary schools

How you can help?

  • Donate/grant $500,000 for licensed social workers and therapists as well as wraparound services

  • Donate/grant $360,000 to deploy Becoming a Man in MBK middle and high schools (Startup)

  • Recruit mentors

  • Join the Service Provider Network

Reducing Crime and Violence and Providing a Second Chance

What will MBK Houston do in the 2016-2017 school year?

  • Enroll 45 youth in the ReDirect diversion program

  • Enroll 500 youth at Kashmere, Wheatley, and Scarborough High School in the TAPS Academy and WIN-WIN training

  • Recruit 75 volunteers to support justice-involved youth

  • Link 100 ex-offenders with jobs through Turnaround Houston

How you can help?

  • Donate/grant $300,000 for the ReDirect program

  • Donate/grant $25,000 to support

  • Recruit volunteers to serve as sponsors and role models in ReDirect and the Circle of Men
